Governing Vessel 20

GV20, or Baihui, is the crown point where the Yang meets and rises, used to subdue upward rebellion and anchor the spirit. In Chinese medicine language, it is classically indicated for clearing the head, calming internal wind, descending Liver Yang, and opening the orifices when the mind feels clouded or the head feels full.

It is often chosen for vertigo, headache, dizziness, prolapse, agitation, insomnia, and a scattered Shen, especially when symptoms suggest upward-flaring Qi or Wind in the upper body. In the old language of the system, GV20 helps the clear Yang rise appropriately while the turbid descends, restoring a sense of uprightness, clarity, and quiet at the summit of the body.
